This doctorate study program is a 100% research-based academic pathway designed for experienced scholars, educators, and language professionals who seek the highest level of specialization in the applied dimensions of language and communication. Positioned at a level equal to EQF Level 8 and aligned with the third European cycle, the program emphasizes advanced research competence, intellectual independence, and the development of original scholarly contributions to the field of Applied Linguistics.
The Doctorate in Applied Linguistics explores the practical application of linguistic theory across educational, institutional, technological, and multicultural contexts. Candidates critically examine areas such as second language acquisition, language pedagogy, discourse and conversation analysis, sociolinguistics, multilingualism, language assessment and testing, language policy and planning, intercultural communication, and digital language learning environments. The program promotes interdisciplinary integration and encourages research that addresses contemporary global challenges in communication and language education.
The structure of the program consists of seven advanced modules:
Four research-oriented modules focusing on advanced research design, qualitative and quantitative methodologies, academic publication strategies, high-level data analysis, and research innovation in applied language studies.
Two general modules aimed at strengthening research ethics, academic leadership, policy analysis, and interdisciplinary scholarship.
One specialized module in Applied Linguistics dedicated to advanced theoretical and practical developments within the discipline.
