Academic Standing and Global Recognition

Our doctoral program is aligned with the highest international academic frameworks:

  • ISCED / EQF Level 8: This study program is officially equivalent to Level 8 on both frameworks.

    • Note on frameworks: ISCED (International Standard Classification of Education) is a UN/UNESCO framework used to compare education statistics globally. The EQF (European Qualifications Framework) translates qualifications across European countries. Level 8 is the absolute highest tier on both scales, reserved exclusively for doctoral degrees and advanced original research.

  • 3rd European Cycle: The degree is fully aligned with the Third Cycle of the European Higher Education Area (the Bologna Process).

  • 180 ECTS Equivalence: While formal doctoral degrees traditionally do not carry ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) numbers, the workload, scope, and academic rigor of this program are strictly equivalent to 180 ECTS credits.
