Positioned at a study level equal to EQF Level 7 and aligned with the second European cycle, the program offers a rigorous academic framework grounded entirely in research.

Urban environments are at the center of global transformation, influenced by population growth, climate change, smart technologies, mobility systems, housing challenges, and social equity considerations. This 100% research-based program equips participants with advanced analytical tools, theoretical foundations, and methodological expertise to critically evaluate urban systems, design resilient communities, and propose forward-looking development models.

The program consists of five modules:

  • Two research-focused modules dedicated to research design, qualitative and quantitative methodologies, spatial analysis, data interpretation, and academic writing.

  • Two general modules that strengthen competencies in strategic planning, governance, sustainability, and global policy perspectives.

  • One specialized module in Urban Design and Development, addressing urban planning theory, sustainable city models, smart city frameworks, infrastructure systems, public space design, environmental integration, and long-term urban resilience.

The program culminates in a thesis and comprehensive research activities aimed at generating an original contribution to the field of urban design and development.

With a duration of +12 months (minimum duration), participants benefit from academic flexibility, allowing them to extend their studies when necessary. The academic workload is equivalent to 60 ECTS, ensuring alignment with European higher education standards.

This Master study program is particularly suitable for urban planners, architects, civil engineers, policy makers, sustainability consultants, infrastructure specialists, and professionals involved in city governance who aim to deepen their expertise through structured research and strategic urban analysis.
