Positioned at a study level equal to EQF Level 7 and aligned with the Second Cycle of the European Higher Education Area, the program carries an academic workload equivalent to 60 ECTS credits.

The Master in Sustainable Tourism Management focuses on integrating environmental responsibility, socio-cultural awareness, and economic viability within tourism development strategies. It prepares participants to critically evaluate tourism policies, destination management models, sustainable hospitality operations, climate impact mitigation, and community-centered tourism planning. The program emphasizes research-driven decision-making and strategic leadership to ensure long-term sustainability in travel and tourism industries.

The academic structure consists of five modules, carefully designed to combine methodological depth with sector-specific expertise:

  • Two research-focused modules dedicated to advanced research design, quantitative and qualitative methodologies, tourism data analysis, and academic writing.

  • Two general modules strengthening strategic management, governance frameworks, innovation in service industries, sustainability leadership, and policy evaluation.

  • One specialized module in Sustainable Tourism Management, focusing on sustainable destination development, eco-tourism models, responsible hospitality management, sustainable event planning, heritage conservation, and ESG integration within tourism enterprises.

The program culminates in a substantial research project supported by structured research activities, enabling students to generate original insights that contribute to sustainable tourism theory and professional practice.

With a minimum duration of 12 months, the program offers flexibility, allowing participants to extend their study period when necessary to balance academic progression with professional commitments.

This Master study program is particularly suitable for tourism executives, hospitality managers, destination planners, sustainability consultants, policy advisors, entrepreneurs, and professionals seeking to align tourism growth with environmental stewardship and community well-being.

By combining academic rigor, sustainability science, and advanced tourism management strategies, the Master in Sustainable Tourism Management prepares graduates to become strategic leaders capable of shaping resilient, ethical, and future-oriented tourism systems worldwide.
