The Master in Law and Arabic is a 100% research-based Master study program designed for graduates and professionals who seek to develop advanced expertise at the intersection of legal systems and the Arabic language. This Master study program is academically positioned at a level equal to EQF Level 7 and corresponds to the 2nd European cycle of higher education.
The program focuses on strengthening analytical legal reasoning, advanced research capacity, and professional academic writing within Arabic legal and multilingual contexts. It explores the relationship between law and the Arabic language in areas such as comparative law, Arabic legal terminology, legislative drafting, judicial interpretation, legal translation, Sharia-based and civil law systems, and cross-border legal communication within the Arab world and beyond.
The academic structure consists of five modules, including:
Two research-focused modules dedicated to research methodology, applied legal research, and advanced academic writing.
Two general modules designed to enhance interdisciplinary competencies, research ethics, and academic professionalism.
One specialized module in Law and Arabic, concentrating on Arabic legal discourse, comparative legal systems, terminology analysis, and professional applications in legal, governmental, and international environments.
The program culminates in a thesis and structured research activities that enable students to produce academically rigorous and professionally relevant research outputs.
The minimum duration of this Master study program is +12 months, with flexibility allowing students to extend their study period according to academic or professional commitments. The program carries a workload equivalent to 60 ECTS credits.
Graduates of this Master study program are prepared for advanced roles in legal consultancy, legislative institutions, international organizations, diplomatic services, legal translation, academic research, and policy development within Arabic-speaking and international contexts. The program emphasizes intellectual independence, academic rigor, and specialization in the integration of law and the Arabic language.
