The Master in Journalism and Mass Communication is an advanced postgraduate program designed to prepare professionals for leadership roles in journalism, broadcasting, digital media, and global communication industries. Fully research-based and academically aligned with EQF Level 7, the program is equivalent to the Second Cycle of European Higher Education and carries 60 ECTS credits.
This program develops advanced competencies in investigative journalism, media ethics, mass communication theory, digital storytelling, media law, and global information systems. Through a strong research orientation, students critically analyze media environments, audience dynamics, misinformation challenges, communication technologies, and the evolving role of journalism in democratic societies. The academic focus ensures that graduates can design research-driven communication strategies and produce high-quality, responsible media content grounded in evidence and analytical depth.
The academic structure consists of five core modules:
Two research-focused modules dedicated to advanced research methodology, media analysis, qualitative and quantitative communication research, and academic writing.
Two general management modules covering strategic leadership, corporate governance, and global business environments.
One specialization module focused specifically on journalism practices, mass communication systems, digital reporting, and multimedia production strategy.
The program culminates in a master’s thesis and structured research activities, enabling students to conduct independent research on contemporary topics such as digital journalism transformation, media credibility and ethics, global media systems, crisis reporting, audience engagement strategies, or communication policy. The final research project demonstrates analytical rigor, ethical awareness, and professional-level communication expertise.
The minimum duration is 12 months, with flexibility to extend the study period according to professional needs. This structure makes the program particularly suitable for journalists, media professionals, communication specialists, and digital content strategists seeking advanced academic qualifications while continuing their careers.
Graduates are prepared for senior roles in news organizations, broadcasting institutions, digital media platforms, public communication departments, international media agencies, and global information networks.
