This Master study program is designed for learners who want to deepen their academic and professional understanding of interpreting in multilingual and international contexts. It is a 100% research based program that supports advanced study in language mediation, intercultural communication, interpreting practice, and the analytical study of spoken language transfer across different settings. The program is suitable for those who aim to strengthen their knowledge of interpreting not only as a practical activity, but also as a field of research, reflection, and applied academic inquiry.
The study level is equal to ISCED / EQF level 7. ISCED means the International Standard Classification of Education, a global framework used to compare education levels across countries. EQF means the European Qualifications Framework, a European reference system that helps explain and compare qualifications and learning levels. At level 7, students are expected to develop highly specialized knowledge, advanced analytical skills, and the ability to address complex academic or professional challenges with strong independence.
This Master study program is structured to combine academic depth with research flexibility. It includes 5 modules: 2 research related modules, 2 general modules, and 1 module focused on the field of Interpreting Studies, in addition to thesis and research activities. The program encourages students to explore key themes such as interpretation theory, multilingual communication, discourse analysis, language transfer, and the role of interpreters in legal, diplomatic, business, healthcare, conference, and community settings. Through its research-based approach, students are expected to build critical thinking, academic writing, methodological understanding, and subject-specific insight.
The duration is a minimum of 12 months, with flexibility for students who wish to extend their study period according to their personal, academic, or professional circumstances. The program is equal to 60 ECTS and is positioned as equal to the 2nd European cycle.
