This Master study program is an advanced academic pathway designed for graduates and professionals who seek to explore historical developments alongside advanced studies in the Russian language and cultural context. It provides a strong research-oriented framework for examining Russia’s historical evolution, political transformations, intellectual traditions, and its role in regional and global affairs.
The program is 100% research based and positioned at a study level equal to EQF Level 7, corresponding to the second European cycle. With an academic workload equal to 60 ECTS, it aligns with European higher education standards and supports both academic advancement and professional development.
The academic structure consists of five modules: two research-related modules focused on advanced research methodology, source criticism, and academic writing; two general modules designed to strengthen interdisciplinary thinking, analytical reasoning, and scholarly communication; and one specialized module dedicated specifically to History and Russian studies. The program also includes thesis and research activities, enabling participants to conduct independent research and produce substantial academic work in accordance with international standards.
This Master study program encourages in-depth engagement with themes such as Imperial and Soviet history, contemporary Russian political developments, cultural identity, historiography, linguistic evolution, and Russia’s geopolitical influence. Participants develop the ability to critically analyze primary sources in Russian, interpret archival documents, and construct evidence-based academic arguments that contribute to scholarly research and policy discussions.
The duration of the program is +12 months. While a minimum study period applies, participants benefit from flexible progression and may extend the study timeline according to their academic goals and professional commitments.
