This Master study program is an advanced, 100% research-based academic pathway designed for graduates and professionals seeking to deepen their expertise in geographical systems and environmental sciences. Positioned at a study level equal to EQF Level 7 and aligned with the second European cycle, the program carries a workload equivalent to 60 ECTS, ensuring academic rigor, international comparability, and structured progression.
The program integrates human and physical geography with environmental science to address complex global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, land-use transformation, sustainable urban development, environmental governance, and resource management. It equips students with the analytical, methodological, and scientific tools required to understand spatial-environmental interactions and propose evidence-based solutions.
The academic structure consists of five modules:
Two research-focused modules, emphasizing advanced research design, qualitative and quantitative methodologies, environmental data analysis, spatial modeling, and academic writing.
Two general modules, strengthening interdisciplinary thinking, critical evaluation skills, and advanced academic competencies.
One specialized module in Geography and Environmental Science, concentrating on ecosystem dynamics, environmental impact assessment, GIS applications, sustainability strategies, climate systems, and socio-environmental resilience.
In addition, students complete a thesis and research activities, demonstrating independent investigation, analytical depth, and contribution to knowledge in a selected area of geographical and environmental inquiry.
With a minimum duration of 12 months, the program offers flexibility, allowing students to extend their study period according to professional or personal commitments. The research-intensive approach fosters scientific independence, policy awareness, and advanced competence in environmental and spatial analysis.
Graduates of this Master study program are prepared for advanced roles in environmental planning, sustainability consulting, climate research, spatial analysis, environmental policy advisory, natural resource management, urban and regional development, research institutions, and international organizations.
This Master study program is designed for individuals committed to advancing environmental sustainability and spatial understanding in an increasingly complex and interconnected world.
