100% Research-Based | EQF Level 7 | 60 ECTS | Second European Cycle
The Master in Film Production and Screenwriting is an advanced postgraduate program designed to prepare creative professionals for strategic roles in cinematic production, storytelling, and the global film industry. Fully research-based and academically aligned with EQF Level 7, the program is equivalent to the Second Cycle of European Higher Education and awards 60 ECTS credits.
This program develops advanced expertise in film directing, screenwriting techniques, narrative structure, cinematic storytelling, production management, film financing models, and digital production technologies. Through a strong research orientation, students critically analyze global film movements, script development methodologies, visual storytelling strategies, audience psychology, and emerging production platforms. The academic framework ensures that graduates can create conceptually strong, technically sound, and industry-ready film projects.
The academic structure consists of five core modules:
Two research-focused modules dedicated to advanced research methodology, film theory analysis, narrative research, creative project development, and academic writing.
Two general management modules covering creative leadership, production management, media entrepreneurship, and global film industry dynamics.
One specialization module focused specifically on screenplay development, film production design, directing strategies, and post-production processes.
The program culminates in a master’s thesis and structured research activities, enabling students to conduct independent research on contemporary topics such as cinematic narrative innovation, independent film financing models, digital distribution strategies, immersive storytelling, cultural representation in cinema, or AI-assisted script development. The final research project demonstrates creative originality, analytical depth, and professional-level filmmaking competence.
The minimum duration is 12 months, with flexibility to extend the study period according to professional commitments. This structure makes the program particularly suitable for filmmakers, screenwriters, producers, creative directors, media entrepreneurs, and digital content creators seeking advanced academic qualifications while continuing their creative careers.
Graduates are prepared for senior roles in film studios, production companies, streaming platforms, media agencies, independent filmmaking ventures, and global entertainment industries.
