The Master in Engineering Leadership is a forward-thinking, research-intensive program designed for engineers and technical professionals who aspire to lead innovation, manage complex projects, and drive strategic transformation within engineering-driven organizations. This Master study program is 100% research based and aligned with study level standards equal to EQF Level 7, corresponding to the second cycle of the European Higher Education Area.

In a world shaped by rapid technological change, digital transformation, sustainability challenges, and global competition, engineering leadership requires more than technical expertise. It demands the ability to integrate engineering knowledge with strategic management, systems thinking, organizational leadership, and evidence-based decision-making. This program prepares participants to operate confidently at the intersection of engineering excellence and executive leadership.

Structured around 60 ECTS (equivalent to the second European cycle), the program is completed over a duration of +12 months, with flexibility for participants who wish to extend their study period according to professional or personal commitments. The academic structure consists of five integrated modules:

  • Two research-focused modules, developing advanced skills in research design, quantitative and qualitative methodologies, data analysis, innovation assessment, and applied problem-solving in engineering contexts.

  • Two general modules, strengthening leadership competencies such as strategic management, organizational behavior, ethics, governance, and change management.

  • One specialized module in Engineering Leadership, focusing on systems engineering management, innovation ecosystems, technology commercialization, risk management, sustainability engineering, and cross-functional leadership in technical environments.

The program culminates in a substantial thesis and research activities that address a real-world engineering leadership challenge. Participants are expected to demonstrate analytical depth, strategic insight, and the ability to translate research findings into practical leadership frameworks applicable to industrial, technological, or infrastructure settings.

This Master study program is particularly suited for engineers, project managers, technology consultants, operations managers, and innovation leaders seeking to transition into senior management roles while maintaining a strong research and analytical foundation. It is also ideal for professionals aiming to strengthen their leadership impact in sectors such as manufacturing, construction, energy, digital technologies, smart infrastructure, aerospace, and advanced engineering services.

Graduates develop advanced competencies in:

  • Leading multidisciplinary engineering teams

  • Managing complex technical projects and innovation portfolios

  • Designing sustainable and scalable engineering solutions

  • Applying research methodologies to improve organizational performance

  • Bridging technical expertise with executive decision-making

By combining rigorous research training with high-level leadership development, the Master in Engineering Leadership equips professionals to become transformative leaders in technology-driven organizations, capable of guiding engineering innovation responsibly, strategically, and globally.
