This Master study program is a 100% research-based academic pathway designed for graduates and professionals who aim to deepen their analytical understanding of crime, criminal behavior, justice systems, and contemporary security challenges. Positioned at a study level equal to EQF Level 7, the program corresponds to the second European cycle and is academically structured to reflect the standards of 60 ECTS.
The Master in Criminology emphasizes advanced research competence, critical inquiry, and evidence-based analysis. Participants explore theoretical frameworks of crime causation, comparative criminal justice systems, socio-legal dynamics, victimology, and emerging issues such as cybercrime, transnational crime, organized crime, and public policy responses. The program fosters strong methodological expertise, enabling learners to design, conduct, and evaluate criminological research at an advanced academic level.
The structure includes five modules:
Two research-focused modules dedicated to advanced research design, qualitative and quantitative methodologies, and academic writing.
Two general modules aimed at strengthening interdisciplinary, analytical, and strategic competencies relevant to the field.
One specialized module in criminology focusing on contemporary theories, crime prevention strategies, and justice system evaluation.
In addition, students complete a thesis and research activities, demonstrating independent research capability and critical academic contribution.
