Positioned at a study level equal to EQF Level 7 and aligned with the 2nd European cycle, the program combines academic depth with analytical rigor, preparing participants for high-level research and strategic economic roles.
The program is structured around five modules: two research-focused modules that develop strong capabilities in quantitative and qualitative research methods, economic modeling, and policy analysis; two general modules that enhance academic writing, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary economic understanding; and one specialized module dedicated entirely to Chinese economic systems, development strategies, industrial policy, trade relations, financial markets, and global economic positioning. The program concludes with thesis and research activities, enabling participants to produce original academic work addressing contemporary economic issues related to China.
With a workload equal to 60 ECTS, this Master study program reflects European higher education standards and ensures academic comparability within the second-cycle framework. The research-driven structure supports the development of independent analysis, evidence-based decision-making, and the ability to interpret complex macroeconomic and microeconomic dynamics within both national and international contexts.
Special emphasis is placed on China’s economic reforms, innovation-driven growth, global trade integration, regional development policies, digital economy expansion, and China’s evolving role in international economic governance. Through a research-oriented approach, participants gain the tools necessary to critically evaluate economic transitions, emerging markets, and cross-border economic relations.
The duration of the program is +12 months as a minimum structured period. However, students benefit from academic flexibility and may extend their study timeline according to their professional commitments and research scope. This makes the program particularly suitable for working professionals aiming to deepen their specialization without interrupting their careers.
This Master study program prepares participants for careers in international trade, economic consultancy, financial analysis, policy advisory roles, multinational corporations, research institutions, and global economic organizations, with a strong specialization in the Chinese economic environment.
