This doctorate study program is an advanced academic pathway designed for scholars who aim to contribute original knowledge to the field of historical studies. It offers a rigorous and intellectually demanding research environment where candidates critically examine historical sources, reinterpret established narratives, and develop innovative perspectives on past events and global transformations.
The program is 100% research based, emphasizing independent investigation, advanced historiography, critical theory, and methodological excellence. It is structured at a study level equal to EQF Level 8, corresponding to the third European cycle, and reflects the highest level of academic scholarship within the European higher education framework.
The academic structure consists of seven modules, carefully organized to support deep scholarly development. Four modules focus on advanced research design, qualitative and quantitative methodologies, historiographical analysis, and academic publication standards. Two general modules strengthen interdisciplinary thinking, ethical research considerations, and theoretical foundations. One specialized module concentrates directly on the field of History, enabling candidates to explore specific periods, regions, civilizations, or thematic areas in depth. The program culminates in a comprehensive thesis and structured research activities that demonstrate the candidate’s capacity to produce original, academically rigorous historical research.
With a minimum duration of 18 months, the program provides flexibility for candidates to extend their study period where needed. This design makes it particularly suitable for academics, researchers, senior professionals, policy analysts, and experts who wish to advance their scholarly profile while maintaining professional commitments.
Through intensive research engagement and critical analysis of historical developments across societies and eras, this doctorate study program prepares participants for high-level roles in academia, research institutions, cultural heritage organizations, think tanks, and international advisory environments. It supports the development of scholars capable of shaping historical discourse and contributing meaningful insights to contemporary global debates.
