The Doctorate in Global Sustainable Development and SDG Implementation is an advanced, 100% research-based study program designed for professionals, policymakers, academics, and industry leaders who aim to contribute meaningfully to sustainable transformation at local, regional, and global levels.

This doctorate study program is positioned at a level equivalent to EQF Level 8, aligned with the third European cycle, and focuses on producing high-impact research that supports practical implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across sectors.

Program Vision

In a world facing complex challenges — climate change, inequality, digital transformation, urbanization, governance reform, and economic sustainability — there is a growing need for research-driven leadership. This program equips candidates with advanced research skills and strategic analytical capacity to design, evaluate, and implement sustainable development frameworks that generate measurable outcomes.

Rather than focusing on theoretical discussions alone, the program emphasizes applied research that bridges policy, innovation, management, and global development strategies. Candidates are encouraged to address real-world challenges and propose implementable solutions aligned with international sustainability agendas.

Academic Structure

The program consists of seven structured modules, carefully designed to support advanced academic and professional research:

  • Four research-intensive modules focused on advanced research methodology, quantitative and qualitative design, impact evaluation, policy analysis, and publication strategy.

  • Two general modules that strengthen interdisciplinary understanding, academic writing, ethics, governance frameworks, and global leadership perspectives.

  • One specialized module in Global Sustainable Development and SDG Implementation, focusing on sustainability strategies, ESG frameworks, public policy alignment, global indicators, institutional transformation, and cross-sector collaboration.

The program includes comprehensive doctoral-level thesis and research activities, enabling candidates to develop original research that contributes to global sustainable development discourse and practice.

The standard duration is +18 months (minimum duration applies), with flexible study progression options allowing candidates to extend their research timeline when needed. This flexibility makes the program suitable for senior professionals balancing academic advancement with executive responsibilities.
