This Master study program is an advanced academic pathway designed for graduates and professionals who seek to develop in-depth knowledge of the historical development and contemporary dynamics of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. It provides a strong research-oriented framework for examining political evolution, socio-economic transformations, regional integration, and cultural identity within the Arabian Gulf context.
The program is 100% research based and positioned at a study level equal to EQF Level 7, corresponding to the second European cycle. With an academic workload equal to 60 ECTS, it aligns with European higher education standards while offering flexibility for professionals and international participants.
The academic structure consists of five modules: two research-related modules that focus on advanced research methodology, academic writing, and analytical approaches; two general modules that strengthen interdisciplinary thinking, critical evaluation, and strategic analysis; and one specialized module dedicated specifically to History and GCC studies. The program also includes thesis and research activities, enabling participants to conduct independent research and produce substantial academic work aligned with international scholarly standards.
This Master study program encourages detailed exploration of topics such as the historical formation of Gulf states, regional diplomacy, economic diversification, energy policy, governance systems, cultural heritage, and geopolitical developments in the GCC region. Participants develop the ability to critically analyze archival sources, policy documents, and regional data while constructing evidence-based academic arguments relevant to both historical scholarship and contemporary policy discussions.
The duration of the program is +12 months. While a minimum study period applies, participants benefit from flexible progression and may extend the study timeline according to their academic objectives and professional commitments.
