This Master study program is a 100% research-based academic pathway designed for graduates who seek advanced knowledge in the practical and interdisciplinary dimensions of language studies. Positioned at a level equal to EQF Level 7 and aligned with the second European cycle, the program emphasizes analytical depth, research competence, and the application of linguistic theory to real-world contexts.
The Master in Applied Linguistics focuses on the interaction between language theory and practice across educational, social, professional, and technological environments. Participants explore areas such as second language acquisition, language teaching methodologies, discourse analysis, sociolinguistics, multilingualism, language assessment, intercultural communication, and language policy. The program develops strong research capabilities while encouraging critical reflection on contemporary linguistic challenges in globalized societies.
The structure of the program consists of five academic modules:
Two research-oriented modules dedicated to advanced research methodology, qualitative and quantitative analysis, academic writing, and research design in applied language studies.
Two general modules aimed at strengthening interdisciplinary thinking, academic reasoning, and broader scholarly competencies.
One specialized module in Applied Linguistics focusing on applied theories and their implementation in education, communication, and policy contexts.
These modules are complemented by thesis development and structured research activities, enabling participants to produce an original research contribution within the field of Applied Linguistics.
With a minimum duration of 12 months and flexible progression options, the program accommodates professionals who wish to advance academically while maintaining career commitments. The workload is equivalent to 60 ECTS credits, ensuring compatibility with European higher education standards.
