This doctorate study program is a 100% research-based academic pathway designed for advanced scholars, researchers, cultural theorists, historians, and social scientists seeking to produce original and critical contributions to the field of Orientalism. Positioned at a study level equal to EQF Level 8 and aligned with the Third European Cycle, the program emphasizes intellectual depth, interdisciplinary scholarship, and high-level research competence in analyzing historical and contemporary constructions of the “Orient” across literature, politics, art, media, and global power structures.
With a minimum duration of 18 months and flexible extension options, the program is structured to accommodate experienced professionals and international researchers who aim to engage in rigorous doctoral-level inquiry while maintaining academic or professional responsibilities.
The academic structure consists of seven integrated modules:
Four advanced research modules focusing on research design, qualitative and critical methodologies, discourse analysis, historiography, comparative civilizational studies, and academic publishing at an international level.
Two general doctoral-level modules strengthening expertise in philosophy of knowledge, ethics in research, interdisciplinary frameworks, global intellectual history, and academic leadership.
One specialized module in Orientalism, addressing advanced themes such as postcolonial theory, representation and power, identity construction, geopolitical narratives, media discourse, and cross-cultural epistemologies.
The program culminates in independent thesis and research activities that require candidates to generate an original scholarly contribution to the discipline. Research may involve historical textual analysis, critical theory, comparative cultural studies, political discourse analysis, or interdisciplinary approaches linking culture, knowledge, and global governance.
This doctorate study program is designed to cultivate scholarly independence, critical leadership, and the ability to interrogate complex global narratives with analytical precision. It prepares graduates for senior academic positions, leadership roles in research institutions, advisory roles in cultural and international organizations, and advanced policy analysis in global contexts.
Participants develop advanced competencies in theoretical interpretation, research innovation, cross-cultural analysis, and academic publication—positioning them at the forefront of contemporary debates on representation, knowledge production, and global intellectual exchange.
